About Maryam Mohi

Maryam Mohi is an artist, maker, and creative spirit living and working in Maryland. She’s a multi-passionate artist who loves painting on just about anything—from traditional canvases to tabletops, countertops, clothing, and beyond. To her, everything holds the potential to become a canvas and a piece of art.

She is an immigrant artist whose work explores identity, displacement, and belonging through both shared human experience and personal history. Her practice is shaped by emotional states we all move through at different points in time—oneness, loneliness, transition, and quiet reflection—as well as by her lived experience as a female immigrant navigating cultural difference.

After more than twenty years pursuing higher education and a career in business and computer science, she returned fully to her lifelong passion for art. Working intuitively, she layers color, texture, and mark-making across paper, canvas, fabric, and wood, creating spaces where memory and material meet—raw, reflective, and alive.

She’s driven by curiosity and creative freedom, constantly exploring new surfaces, textures, and techniques. Her studio is a cozy, light-filled haven where imagination blooms—often in the company of birdsong, scattered paints, and half-finished ideas. It’s a space where art takes root, inspired by nature, emotion, and the beauty of everyday life.
